COPA University / CPPP Events FAQs

I’m a first time attendee, what should I sign up for?

First time attendees find the class content contains so much useful information you won’t want to miss it. We hear over and over from customers who wish they would not have signed up for flight training. If you really want to enroll in an extra curricular activity then pick one flight slot or one sim slot but not both.

We don’t use an app. About one week prior to your event the website www.CPPPevents.com will become live and contain the latest information.

Absolutely. We have offer classes that are airframe agnostic such as Thunderstorm Tactics, Instrument Refresher, ADM and Icing Tactics.

We do get last minute cancellations. We make an effort to announce this opportunity during the event. Additionally, you can contact the Event Planner and let them know you are interested in a standby spot.

The schedule is similar at every three day event. Consider attending other lectures that you missed, adding flight training, and/or sim training

We do not currently offer attendance to one classroom session. For a smaller time commitment consider attending a one day event.

Slides are available for a limited time beginning Monday after the event through an emailed link supplied by the event coordinator. We style our presentations such that the slides support the narrative rather than direct it. Therefore, the slides should be used for reference only.

You may rent a car or find a ride from the hotel with the many other guests and instructors. We also make an effort to provide a limited amount of transportation to and from the training airport for our flight participants.

Yes! Go to Noble Flight Simulation or RealSimGear’s website.

Flight and simulation slots are considered extra curricular activities and carry an additional fee. You may add this activity during registration. If you would like to add this activity after you have already completed your registration please contact the event coordinator for assistance.

This varies by venue. It will be made clear in your schedule what meals are included in your tuition.

WINGS knowledge credit is issued for most classes you attend. WINGS flight credit is also available for those that take flight training. Discuss this ahead of time with your flight instructor.

Companion Briefing: What You Need to Know Before You Go course is composed of a morning classroom session and an afternoon simulator session. The "Companion Briefing" course is an invaluable resource, empowering active companions and passengers with critical knowledge to enhance flight safety in the very unlikely possibility of pilot incapacitation. This comprehensive program clarifies why a pilot provides a passenger briefing every flight, even preparing them by explaining how the CAPS deployment will look and feel. Ultimately, the course transforms passengers into informed and active partners in flight safety, teaching them how to be a good partner and comprehend some of the essential information displayed on the aircraft's panel, ensuring they can effectively get help if needed.

Yes, companions are always welcome to join their pilot.

No, as an attendee you may attend any of the classes offered and no preregistration is required.

Flight instruction takes place in the customer’s airplane. Please provide an airworthy aircraft and a Certificate of Insurance prior to the event. See below for required insurance information.

Flight training participants must add COPA Training LLC as an additional insured with Waiver of Subrogation on their policy. Underwriters will usually add this at no cost. (AIG has sometimes assessed a fee for the Certificate but have recently agreed to waive the fee for CPPP)

Required language is:
“This Certificate is issued to Additional Insured COPA Training Foundation LLC, 2030 W Baseline Rd #182-8376, Phoenix, AZ 85041 their officers, employees, agents and volunteers. The Certificate Holder is provided a Waiver of Subrogation with respect to Aircraft Physical Damage Coverage.”

It may take 2 days to 3 weeks to get the Certificate issued so please get started on this promptly. If the aircraft is owned in the name of a corporation, please have the pilot’s name included on the certificate or cover note otherwise CPPP can’t tell who is covered. Please forward these instructions to your broker. Please highlight the fact that COPA Training LLC MUST be added as an Additional Insured with a Waiver of Subrogation. Certificates without these two clauses are not acceptable to COPA’s underwriter and will have to be re-issued. Once the certificate has been issued, email the certificate to [email protected].
