I am considering pulling my old ARNAV MFD and replacing with an Avidyne EX5000C and SIU when I also install a DFC90 in my 2001 SR22. If I am able to find the EX5000, I will also have two ARNAV MFDs available to the Cirrus community.
Thanks,

Paul: I second Alex's recommendation. There apparently are a lot of issues and Andy has been through it. Bill Berger
Hi Alex ,
What are the issues ? Are they to do with the hardware , or converting ?

I just went through the process of converting the MFD. If you are trying to bring over your engine monitoring, you are going to have a major headache. In my case, I use a JPI monitor and the changeover was much easier.
One suggestion for you: check with your shop first. They may want to see a yellow tag on the MFD before they will do the install. If that is the case, you should know that Avidyne is the ONLY place where you can get it tagged, and they ain't shy about charging for their high standards. By the time you are done buying a used unit and getting it tagged, you might do just as well going directly to Avidyne and just ordering an overhauled unit.
I happen to LIKE six-packs, thank you very much

Well said, Alex, Bruce, and Bill.
It took six months, and a total cost of about $16,000 (original estimate <$8,000) to get engine monitoring to work. There are VERY complicated problems with compatibility of certain serial number planes with SIU's, and worse yet, they're supposed to work fine. They don't.
If you do go down this path, please contact me directly. Thanks to Clyde Stubbs, Jim Barker, Savvy, and Autopilot Central, at least I can point you down the path that worked for Clyde and me.
Don't count on Avidyne. While I purchased a unit from them, they washed their hands of the problem.
Now that it's working, and I'm poor, I do like it.

Andy,
I vividly recall your thread and issues. I have already replaced my 6pack with a 3screen Aspen system 3 years ago. Once the DFC90 STC gets signed off (supposedly this month), I was going to go ahead and replace my stec55X and then modify my Aspen installation to a flush mount configuration. Since I can also get rid of the altitude preselect that we 6 pack users have struggled with for many years, I was also going to have a new panel machined, clean up all of the bastardized panel changes, and install the Avidyne MFD. If this is just not achievable, I will take a different path, but it sure would be my first choice if I could make it all work.
I appreciate your wisdom.
Best Regards..Paul
Paul,
Not withstanding my frustration with the process, I am happy with the final product. To be clear, installing the Avidyne MFD wasn't the issue, it was the engine monitoring. Sould you want to get the engine monitoring, I'm happy to talk you through the process and give you the benefit of what I learned along the way. Feel free to contact me directly if I can help...those of us with "well seasoned" planes need to support each other!
Best,
