Newest Addition to our Family

I would like to introduce N877KC, a FIKI Turbo SR22 with the GTS - X package and Perspective avionics.

We're very proud of this new aircraft for the training opportunities it represents.  As a Turbo, we're able to conduct high altitude training and oxygen system familiarization.  With the Perspective avionics with EVS, we're able to present a fully loaded training course which utilizes all the different facets of the latest in aviation flight decks.  I'm presently putting the finishing touches on a groundschool Perspective course for familiarization purposes along side a full flight training course which results in a Certificate of Completion for transition to the Perspective avionics.

I'm making a full VFR and IFR course, it's rather fun since I get to work with the latest and greatest that GA has to offer.

I'm also going to be developing an icing safety course which we plan to start utilizing more fully in a couple of months.  This course is to provide Cirrus pilots with a better understanding of ice as well as a grasp of how to use a Flight In Known Ice (FIKI) equipped airplane.  This new equipment greatly increases the utility of a Cirrus but we want to make sure pilots know what is acceptable and when it's wiser to just call it a day.

Some of the known ice improvements are subtle.  Note the windshield sprayers:

The X Package is pretty nice.  I really like the suede interior and felt headliner.  Everything is very sharp.

The Perspective avionics are a blast.  There's so much information readily available from this powerful setup and almost everything you could ask for in an autopilot...  give me autothrottles and I think that's all I could ever want.  I'm very much looking forward to doing some teaching in 877KC.  Give us a call or email if you'd like to come by and see it!  We have it based at KBFI in Seattle.

Safe flying!

Beautiful plane!  I don't see the big "X" logo on the tail; did you have that removed, and got plans for that space?

Thanks Curt!

We have the airplane through a leaseback program and the owner decided he'd rather not have that big X back there.  We're going with a more minimalist approach on this bird....

... which is a funny term to apply to an airplane with all these capabilities.

Do the center console fuel gages work any better than on our 2008 G3 ?

John, are you by any chance going to M7, if so I would be interested in a few hours training in KC if you had the time, unfortunately I will not be able to get to your school for any training during this trip but it was recommended to me.  Regards  Duncan

Chris - Our center console gages seem to be working pretty well... Based on what they told me my guess on how much fuel we'd add was only about a gallon off from what the fuel truck could put in.  I do prefer to use the totalizer (which I back down a few from full) anyway, but these gages seem good.  Of course they're still subject to the same limitation that they'll only read accurately in coordinated, level flight.  Banks, climbs, and slips throw everything off since it works off a float system.

Duncan - I will indeed be at the Migration.  We'll have a booth set up in the main exhibit hall at the DECC.  Come by and see me, we'll set something up.  If you're not coming up, send me an email to John@theflightacademy.com and we'll work it out.

Safe flying!
